Elyria Traffic Fine Schedule

Elyria Municipal Court publishes a detailed fine schedule. Here are the key costs as of the latest update. Seat belt violations are $130 for the driver and $120 for a passenger, effective March 1, 2026. Speeding fines scale with how far over the limit you were going.

For speeding, going 0 to 10 mph over costs $179 total. Going 11 to 20 mph over costs $204. If you were 21 to 30 mph over, the total is $224. Anything over 30 mph above the speed limit runs $264. These amounts include court costs and the base fine. A payment agreement carries a $35 fee if you need to set up an installment plan.

These fines apply to waiverable tickets. If your violation is not waiverable, the judge sets the fine at your hearing. More serious charges like reckless operation or OVI have different cost structures. Under Ohio Revised Code Section 2947.14, the court can allow payment plans for defendants who show financial hardship.
